Las Vegas is famed for its roulette wheels and slot machines. But the city offers so much more than gambling opportunities. A stay in Las Vegas can be whatever you want to be. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a cultural discovery or just fun, fun, fun, Las Vegas is sure to deliver.
Here are seven amazing things to do in Las Vegas that don’t involve gambling:
Visit the Neon Museum
If you like a little kitsch in your life, head to Las Vegas’ Neon Museum. It’s the place that old, neon, Las Vegas signs go when they reach the end of their working lives. On a tour of the neon graveyard you can hear all about Las Vegas history and the characters who lived and worked there. You can also get some incredible photos of these retro signs, faded but still fabulous.
Spend a Night on the Tiles
Going out to drink and dance in Las Vegas is an experience like no other. The city’s bars and clubs certainly don’t shy away from the city’s reputation for excess. Drink cocktails inside a chandelier at Cosmopolitan. Or dance under a huge, revolving chandelier at Omnia, part of Caesar’s Palace. Wherever you look for nightlife along the strip, you can expect to find world famous DJs and an unforgettable atmosphere.
Watch a Show
Some of the world’s most famous stars have longstanding residencies performing in Vegas. You can catch A-List singers and bands doing no-expense-spared gigs in much more intimate venues than the huge stadiums they usually sell out. Check out the line up along the Strip before you set off on your holiday and book tickets in advance so you don’t miss out.
Take a Trip to the Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is just a short drive from Las Vegas so it’d be a sin not to see this wonder of the natural world whilst you’re in town. There are some great hiking trails if you’re feeling energetic or jeep tours if you’d rather take it easy. You could even do things in style and take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. However you choose to see the Grand Canyon, you’ll find that there’s nothing quite like that beautiful red rock, particularly at sunrise and sunset.
Take in the View from the Stratosphere
The Stratosphere is the tallest building in Nevada and at the top you’ll find spectacular views of the Las Vegas lights and surrounding desert. And if you’re feeling adventurous, you can always choose to brave the SkyJump, a controlled free-fall from the top of the building to the ground below.
Go Zip Lining
Adrenaline junkies looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city will find all the fresh air and excitement they’re looking for at Bootleg Canyon Flightlinez, near Boulder City. Here you can zip through the skies, heading down a 1.5 mile descent over four separate zip lines. You can reach speeds of up to 60 miles per hour and enjoy some pretty incredible views in the process too.
Admire the Bellagio Fountains
A symbol of Las Vegas and a feature of pretty much every movie ever set in the city, the Bellagio Fountains are a must-see. Watch the water and the lights dance to the music in an incredibly complex choreographed show. From opera classics to pop tunes, the fountains dance to them all in a romantic show that will have you mesmerised.
Las Vegas isn’t all about the gambling. There are plenty of other amazing things to do in the city. Museums, clubs, outdoor adventures and world class entertainment – there’s no place in the world quite like Vegas.
