Where is the most popular place to get married in Cyprus?

The most popular locations for a Cyprus wedding include Paphos and Ayia Napa. The latter is renowned for its nightlife scene, so is perfect for those looking to take the wedding celebrations into the early hours. Ayia Napa weddings, much like others across Cyprus, are all about beautiful coastline, golden beaches and turquoise waters, so is ideal for beach weddings. There’s certainly a quiet and refined side to the town and we’ll help you find beautiful Ayia Napa wedding venues right here. Discover them for yourself below!

Dance the Night Away in Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa (sometimes known as Agia Napa) is one of the most popular locations in Cyprus to visit, boasting a fantastic nightlife scene, making the town a firm favourite for those wanting to let their hair down.

Whilst it does have a bit of a reputation for being a party town, there’s also a quiet and more refined side to Ayia Napa, so the town truly does have something for everyone! It’s based near the famous Cape Greco, in the eastern part of Cyprus, and is a fantastic place to visit for your wedding or civil ceremony.

Consider a Wedding in Limassol

Limassol would also be a beautiful setting for your Mediterranean wedding - it’s based on the southern coast of this warm nation, and whilst it’s one of the largest cities in Cyprus, it’s not without its own rustic charm.

It’s the second largest urban area in the nation, outside of Nicosia, so you can be sure that there will be lots to see and do if you do decide to visit Cyprus early or take your honeymoon here!

Host a Beautiful Day in Paphos

Situated on the south-west coast of Cyprus, Paphos is a city full of Cypriot charm, making the area a beautiful setting to fulfil all your wedding dreams. It’s famous for its cultural heritage and Roman mosaics, and Greek mythology states Paphos to be the birthplace of the Greek goddess of love and beauty - Aphrodite herself - making Paphos a very special location for your wedding!

Plan Your Wedding in Pretty Protaras

The tranquil resort of Protaras is another popular destination for wedding guests and tourists alike, although it generally has more of a casual vibe than Ayia Napa.

Protaras is located on the east coast of Cyprus - it's a small town on the coast, surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches and luscious scenery. The area is famous for its beaches, including the fabulous Fig Tree Bay beach, which has been consistently voted as one of the best beaches in the world, as well as in Europe, making it a popular wedding location for all.

Cyprus Weddings FAQs

To get married in Cyprus, you’ll need a valid British passport, certified birth certificates, and a statutory declaration. English, Welsh & Northern Irish pairs may also require a 'Letter of No Trace' from the General Register Office. You will also need to decide if you want a civil or Catholic ceremony and allow yourself a few days in advance to register your marriage at the local town hall. Legal documents must be completed no more than 11 weeks before the ceremony date.

Cyprus is good for a wedding all year round. For hotter temperatures, aim for peak season (June-August), but for some gentle sea breeze and cooler weather, aim to get married between March-April or closer to October.

Cyprus wedding packages start from under a £1000, making that dream beach wedding affordable and accessible. The beauty of the surroundings and weather mean that even the most basic of packages don’t need much adding to them, however if you’re looking to add some extra special touches and wow your Cyprus wedding guests, we can make that happen too.

Guests attending a wedding in Cyprus should be mindful of the country's hot climate, especially if you’re attending an outdoor wedding. Opt for light, breathable fabrics and avoid anything dark-coloured. All guests should still dress as per the couple’s dress code but there are a few measures you can take to ensure your comfort during a sunny ceremony.
