Getting Married in Turkey

Turkey weddings are becoming increasingly popular amongst British couples. This fascinating country offers up the perfect marriage (pun intended) of European and Middle Eastern cultures, an almost otherworldly quality contained within its sun baked mountains, forests and beaches. Beautiful little fishing villages dotted along the coastline, such as Fethiye, are home to many of Turkey’s wedding venues catering to different wedding types including beach weddings and more, as well as larger cities like Antalya that are rich in history and tradition. A wedding in Turkey takes all of that famous celebratory spirit the country is known for and distils it into incredible settings backed by the sparkling Mediterranean, overlooked by towering mountains and lush palm trees.

Getting married in Turkey FAQs

All our Turkish wedding packages follow a theme broadly familiar to us Brits, however your day is what you (and we) make it, so if you’d like a traditional approach then we can make that happen. In Turkey, rather than the throwing of the bouquet, the bride’s friends write their names on the sole of her shoes. The name(s) that rubs off by the end of the night will be the next to get married. In terms of gifts, guests at a Turkish wedding either give cold coins or jewellery, which keeps things nice and simple.

Only civil marriage is legal in Turkey - you can have a religious ceremony if you wish but it must be in addition to the civil ceremony. So long as your wedding would be allowed under UK law, it will be legally binding back in the UK. Speak to our team for advice on the documentation you’ll need to legally wed in Turkey.

Turkey is a refreshingly affordable place to visit, and as such its wedding packages allow you to get more bang for your buck than other European destinations. Most readymade packages include everything you could wish for, however our dedicated local planners will chat to you about what options to go for depending on your specific budget.
