Positano is a dream wedding location, imagine the overwhelming happiness of being married in the iconic Church of Santa Maria Assunta. In all the photographs of Positano, the Church dome is the crowning glory of the town and an important part of Positano’s cultural, religious and architectural landscape. The church’s colourful majolica tiled dome is a beautiful symbol, with its intricate pattern of yellow, green and blue tiles shining against the blue sky and Meditteranean sea.

Imagine the emotion of walking along the bougainvillea covered walkway leading to the Church which is located in the centre of Positano and literally just a few step away from the Marina Grande beach. A moment in your life you will never forget. There is a quaint small piazza in front of the church where you can have your wedding photographs and soak in the atmosphere.

The history of the church makes it unique, it’s closely linked to a Benedictine Monastery built when an icon of the Virgin was brought to Positano and venerated in the church as a miracle. The abbey dates back to 10^th century and a he beautiful white and gold interior.

This church is one of the few that accept foreign couples and we are delighted to assist Catholic couples with their wedding plans.

As long as you have all the required documentation the process is fairly straight forward.

Legalities

To be able to marry in Italy you will need to be resident for 4 days. You will require your full birth certificate and passport as well as other legal documentation depending on your previous marital status. All information is for guidance purposes and based on british passport holders, couples need to obtain and research there required documentation
